How to fully turn off Bluetooth in iPhone and save battery

Most people in the USA have a common problem when using the iPhone. How can we fully turn off Bluetooth on an iPhone and save battery?
While iOS doesn’t offer a direct single-tap shortcut on the Home Screen to turn off Bluetooth fully, you can create a convenient workaround using the Shortcuts app. Here’s how you can craft a shortcut to achieve this:
-
-
Open the Shortcuts App on your iphone: This app comes pre-installed
-
-
-installed on your iPhone. If you can’t find it, swipe down from the middle of your Home Screen and search for “Shortcuts.”
-
To create a New Shortcut, Tap the “+” button at the top right corner of the Shortcuts app.
-
Name Your Shortcut: Tap the three dots “…” in the top right corner. Give your shortcut a name, like “Turn Off Bluetooth,” and tap “Done.”
-
Add the “Set Bluetooth” Action:
- Tap “Add Action.”
- In the search bar, type “Bluetooth” and select the “Set Bluetooth” action.
-
Configure the Action: The “Set Bluetooth” action will appear with a toggle that likely says “Turn Bluetooth On.” Tap on “On” to change it to “Off.”
-
Add to Home Screen (Optional but Recommended):
- Tap the three dots “…” again (if you closed it).
- Tap “Add to Home Screen.”
- Customize the icon and label if you like.
- Tap “Add” in the top right corner.
Now you’ll have an icon on your Home Screen that, when tapped, will directly turn off Bluetooth.
Important Note: This shortcut utilizes the “Set Bluetooth” action, which, since iOS 11, doesn’t fully turn off Bluetooth from the Control Center or a shortcut. Instead, it disconnects all currently connected devices until the next day or until you manually turn it back on in Settings or by connecting to a Bluetooth accessory.
If you need to completely disable Bluetooth (which is sometimes necessary for troubleshooting or to maximize battery life), you’ll still need to do so through the Settings app under the Bluetooth menu.
This shortcut provides a quick way to disconnect your Bluetooth devices, which is often the desired outcome when wanting to “turn off” Bluetooth temporarily.
